Personal IntroductionHello, my name is Ron Pepino and I am currently a graduate student of Professor Murray Holland at JILA and the University of Colorado at Boulder. Murray's group is the theoretical quantum optics group of JILA. We currently study a wide variety of quantum gas scenarios including (but not limited to): BCS-BEC crossover physics, ultracold gases trapped in optical lattices, cavity QED and cooling applications to atomic clocks. My Current ResearchI am currently involved in a research project that we call Atomtronics, which is focused on creating neutral, ultracold atomic analogies of electronic circuits and devices. The particular systems that we have been investigating are ultracold atoms trapped in optical lattices. So far, we were able to realize the behavior of diodes, field-effect transistors, and bipolar-junction transistors. Recently, we were able to realize the behavior of simple logic gates (AND and OR gates) in these neutral, ultracold atom-optical systems. |
